Job Summary

The Accountant will handle daily financial transactions, maintain accurate financial records, and support the accounting functions of the hotel and restaurant business. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a good understanding of hospitality accounting procedures.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Transactions and Reporting:

  • Record and process financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including daily revenue summaries and expense breakdowns.
  • Reconcile bank statements, revenue streams, and balance sheet accounts.

Revenue and Expense Management:

  • Monitor and report on revenue from room bookings, food and beverage sales, and events.
  • Verify and process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments.
  • Assist in managing inventory control and cost tracking for food, beverages, and supplies.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Ensure compliance with local tax laws and hotel industry accounting standards.
  • Maintain organized records of financial transactions, invoices, and receipts.
  • Support internal and external audit processes with necessary documentation.

Support in Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts for various departments.
  • Track departmental expenditures and report any variances to senior management.

System and Process Management:

  • Utilize accounting software and property management systems for financial processes.
  • Identify and suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Familiarity with hotel and restaurant accounting practices is an advantage.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in accounting software and property management systems (e.g., Opera, Micros).
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and bookkeeping principles.
  • Attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
